Designation of Complaint Officer under Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act
Overview Dibrugarh University has officially designated Sri Dhwajen Sonowal, Estate Officer, as the Complaint Officer for the university in compliance with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020, and the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Jane Kaushik vs. Union of India & Others. Role and Responsibilities of the Complaint Officer Grievance Redressal: The designated officer is responsible for receiving and registering complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and the denial of rights concerning transgender persons within the university. Legal Compliance: Taking appropriate steps to redress grievances in accordance with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and associated rules and university policies. Coordination: Liaising with competent authorities, university officials, and other stakeholders for the prompt enquiry and resolution of complaints. Confidentiality: Ensuring the confidentiality of all complaints and records, as well as submitting periodic reports as required. This notification is effective immediately until further notice.
