Dibrugarh UniversityOverview Dibrugarh University, through its Department of Physics and the Center for Atmospheric Studies, in collaboration with community radio station Radio Gyanmalinee 90.8 FM, celebrated National Space Day 2026 on August 22, 2026. The event aimed to emphasize students' involvement in nation-building and promote participation in science, particularly space science and technology. The celebration was inaugurated by Prof. Umanada Dev Goswami, Head, Department of Physics. Dr. Bitap Raj Kalita presented the welcome address, explaining the theme: "Viksit Bharat: innovation, collaboration and aspiring for global and space leadership." Prof. Kalyan Bhuyan, Chairperson of the workshop and the Center for Atmospheric Studies, highlighted ISRO's early initiatives. A key feature of the event was an online talk by Prof. D. Pallamraju, Senior Professor & Dean, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, on the same theme. The event also included an inter-departmental poster-making competition and a quiz competition, conducted by Dr. Jitu Ranjan Chetia and Priyanka Joshi. Professor Pradeep Kumar Bhuyan, founder chairperson of the Center for Atmospheric Studies, also graced the afternoon session, stressing student participation in the science stream and contributions to space science research. The organizing committee for National Space Day 2026 included Prof. Kalyan Bhuyan (chairperson), Dr. Bitap Raj Kalita (convenor), and Dr. Binita Pathak, Dr. Barsha Dutta, Jocelyn Sangma, Dr. Jnanendra Upadhyay, Dr. Jituranjan Chetia, and Swapnali Bhuyan (joint convenors). Additionally, faculty members will deliver talks to various colleges on the same date.
