Overview The Supreme Court of India has released an advertisement for the recruitment of Junior Court Assistants (Group-B Non-Gazetted post). Online applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens to fill 250 tentative vacancies. Candidates will be placed in Level 6 of the Pay Matrix, with an initial Basic Pay of Rs. 35,400/-, plus admissible allowances. The number of posts is tentative and may be subject to change. Eligibility Criteria Educational Qualifications (as on 1st September 2026): Bachelor's degree from a recognized University in India. Knowledge of Computer operation with a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English on computer. Age Limit (as on 1st September 2026): Minimum Age: 18 years Maximum Age: 30 years Age Relaxation: Usual age relaxation will be admissible to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), Physically Challenged, and Ex-servicemen, as per Government of India's Rules. Relaxation up to a maximum of five years, over and above the prescribed age limit of thirty years, will be admissible to dependents of freedom fighters. There will be no upper age limit for Departmental candidates of the Registry of the Supreme Court of India. No relaxation in age will be allowed for candidates working in other Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings/Nationalized Banks, etc. Selection Process The selection process consists of four stages: Objective Type Test (Multiple Choice Questions): Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Maximum Marks: 100 Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50 Content: 100 questions covering General English (including comprehension, 20 questions), General Aptitude (15 questions), General Knowledge (15 questions), provisions relating to Judiciary in the Constitution of India (15 questions), Supreme Court Rules, 2013 (10 questions), Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961 (10 questions), and Computer Knowledge (15 questions). Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. Typing Speed Test on Computer: Duration: 10 minutes Language: English Minimum Speed: 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) Maximum Marks: 50 Minimum Qualifying Marks: 25 Mistakes Allowed: 3% of the total words typed. Error Treatment: A word/figure error is a full mistake. Wrong capitalization (capital for small or vice-versa) or omitted/added/substituted punctuation is a half mistake. Written Test (Descriptive): Duration: 2 hours Language: English Content: Comprehension passage, Precis Writing, and Essay Writing. Maximum Marks: 100 Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50 Interview: Maximum Marks: 25 Minimum Qualifying Marks: 13 Mode: Can be online or physical in Delhi, as decided by the Competent Authority. Shortlisting Ratios: Candidates for the Typing Speed Test and Written Test will be shortlisted from the Objective Type Test merit list in a ratio of 1:10 against the number of tentative vacancies, provided they secure at least 50 marks. Candidates for the Interview will be shortlisted from those who successfully qualify the Objective Type Test, Typing Speed Test, and Written Test, in a ratio of 1:3 against the number of tentative vacancies. Test Centres: The Objective Type Test will be conducted in various cities (Annexure-A provides a list of cities across different states). The Typing Speed Test on Computer and Written Test (Descriptive) will be conducted in Delhi/NCR. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in tests/interview. Scribe Facility: Persons with Disabilities can avail scribe facility as per Office Memorandum No. F.No.P-13013/75/2023-Policy-DD-III dated 1st August 2025. The qualification of the scribe must be a minimum of two academic years below and a maximum of three academic years below the candidate's minimum qualification for the examination. Employer's No Objection Certificate: Candidates working in Central/State Government Departments/Nationalized Banks/Public Sector Undertakings must submit a 'No Objection Certificate' at the time of document verification.
