
Assam Don Bosco University
Established on March 29, 2008, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) is a pioneering private, non-profit, co-educational Catholic research university in Assam, India. Founded by the Salesians of Don Bosco and managed by the Don Bosco Society, ADBU was officially established through the Assam Don Bosco University Act, 2009, making it Assam's first state university in the private sector. Its inception was a direct response to the growing educational needs of Northeast India, building upon the Salesians' long legacy of providing higher education in the region since 1934. Key milestones include the commencement of its first B.Tech courses in August 2008, formal inauguration in December 2008, and its official gazetting in February 2009. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a member of prestigious academic affiliations such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU). ADBU has also achieved an "A Grade" accreditation from NAAC, underscoring its commitment to quality education. Assam Don Bosco University offers a wide spectrum of academic programs across various streams, including engineering, management, social sciences, applied sciences, life sciences, and humanities. The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated, doctoral, diploma, and online degree programs. Notable vocational and key programs include B.Tech in various specializations like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, BCA, B.Com., B.A. (Honours) in fields such as Economics and Mass Communication, MBA, MCA, M.Sc. in disciplines like Zoology and Physics, and M.Tech. The university's main campus is located in Guwahati and Sonapur, Assam, with a significant portion situated in the scenic Tapesia Hills, spread across approximately 500 acres.
