1. Head of Teaching & Learning No of posts: 1

Location: Primary base in Guwahati or Majuli, Assam. Regular travel across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and to programme geographies.

Pay: INR 9.6 LPA+, commensurate with experience and readiness.

Educational Qualification: Must have a degree in Education or a closely related fi eld. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage, though never a substitute for the quality of your experience.

Experience:

• Meaningful time in direct classroom teaching — at least 2 years. This is the one thing we will not compromise on. We need someone who has stood in front of children and knows what that asks of a person.
• A track record of moving between contexts — classrooms, training rooms, institutions, communities — and leading thoughtfully at each level.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, teacher development, or academic programme design, at school and/or system level.
• Experience designing and facilitating training for teachers or facilitators, and the judgement to know when a training design is actually working.
• Experience across more than one educational context — formal schools, government partnerships, non-formal or community settings. We are not a single context organisation and we need someone who is not either.
• Familiarity with the Indian government education system — SSA/SAMAGRA SHIKSHA, the realities of government school classrooms — is a significant advantage.
• Prior experience in rural or remote geographies, particularly Northeast India, is strongly preferred.
• Experience in research, monitoring, or learning design is valued.

2. School Leader / Assistant School Leader No of posts: 1

Location: Bana, Arunachal Pradesh. This is a full-time, on-site residential role.

Pay: INR 52,000 to INR 62,000 per month, commensurate with experience and the level at which you join.

Educational Qualification: Must have a postgraduate degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field. A fellowship such as Teach For India or equivalent is an advantage.

Experience:

• A background in early childhood education or early primary teaching is strongly preferred. If your experience is in primary education more broadly and you have genuine curiosity about and comfort with young children, we encourage you to apply.
• 3+ years of experience in teaching, teacher development, or school leadership. We are open to candidates at different stages — the title and compensation will refl ect where you are.
• Prior experience in residential school settings is an advantage.
• Experience in remote, rural, or tribal contexts is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Northeast India is a signifi cant plus.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and basic operational management skills.

3. English Language Teacher- Secondary Grades No of posts: 1

Location: The Hummingbird School, Majuli, Assam

Pay: Up to 5.4 LPA based on the skills and experience

Educational Qualification: Must have a Master’s degree in English, English Literature, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience teaching English at the middle or secondary school level.
• Strong knowledge of English language, grammar, literature, writing, and age-appropriate pedagogical approaches for adolescent learners.
• Experience in teaching students with diverse levels of language proficiency and academic preparedness.
• Experience in designing assessments and using student work and performance to inform teaching and learning.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Creative, reflective, and passionate about helping young people become confident readers, writers, communicators, and independent thinkers.
• Strong organizational, planning, and classroom management skills.

Ayang Trust (est. 2017) is dedicated to enabling quality education and dignified livelihoods for underserved communities in Northeast India. This lack of financial security further worsens access to health care and basic needs.
