Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the OBC Scholarship Assam 2026-27, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

• Nationality & Residence:
• Must be an Indian Citizen.
• Must be a Permanent Resident of Assam.
• Caste Requirement:
• Applicants must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC).
• A valid OBC Certificate issued by the competent authority is mandatory.
• Educational Level:
• For Pre-Matric Scholarship: Students must be studying in Class IX or Class X in a Government-recognized school.
• For Post-Matric Scholarship: Students must be studying in Class XI and above, including College, University, Technical Institutions, or Professional Courses, after passing the matriculation examination.
• Attendance Requirement (for renewal): A minimum of 75% attendance in the previous academic year is mandatory.
• Income Criteria: The annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2,50,000 per annum. An income certificate issued by the competent authority is required.
• Important Conditions:
• No Double Scholarship: A student cannot receive another scholarship simultaneously from any other source.
• Family Restriction: Only two male students from one family are eligible. No such restriction applies to girl students.
• Aadhaar Linked Bank Account: Scholarship amount will be credited through DBT, requiring Aadhaar to be linked with an active bank account.

Scholarship Amount

Financial assistance is provided based on the educational level:

• Pre-Matric Scholarship Amount (Annual Academic Allowance):
• Class IX & X: ₹4,000 Per Year
• Post-Matric Scholarship Amount (Includes tuition fee reimbursement and maintenance allowance):
• Group I: Professional Degree & PG Professional Courses: ₹20,000 Per Year
• Group II: Diploma & Professional Certificate Courses: ₹13,000 Per Year
• Group III: BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom etc.: ₹8,000 Per Year
• Group IV: Class XI, XII, ITI & Non-Degree Courses: ₹5,000 Per Year

Selection Process

The scholarship is awarded to eligible OBC students who meet all the specified criteria and successfully apply through the National Scholarship Portal. The process primarily involves verification of submitted documents and adherence to eligibility norms.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by following these steps:

1. Generate NSP OTR Number:

• Install the NSP OTR App and Aadhaar Face RD App.
• Complete face authentication to generate your 14-digit One-Time Registration (OTR) number.

• Open the National Scholarship Portal (https://scholarships.gov.in/) and log in using your newly generated OTR number.

• Choose the appropriate scholarship: "Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students" or "Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students."

• Carefully enter Personal Details, Educational Details, Bank Details, and Aadhaar Details.
