World Environment Day Observed with Plantation and Cleanliness Drive at New Research Scholar Girls' Hostel, Dibrugarh University

The invited speaker for the session was Dr. G. Kanato Chophy from the Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh University, a distinguished academic known for his valuable contributions to research and higher education. In his insightful lecture, Dr. Chophy highlighted various environmental issues and emphasized the importance of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle in everyday life. He discussed environmental initiatives, waste management practices, the importance of waste segregation and the need for cooperation and collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. He encouraged participants to become responsible citizens by identifying problems in their surroundings and taking proactive steps to solve them. Stressing the importance of self-initiative, he urged everyone to begin environmental action from within themselves. He also emphasized the value of meaningful contributions to society, continuous learning and developing a deeper understanding of environmental concerns through critical reading and awareness.
