NLUJA Lawyer Fellowship Programme 2026

Overview The National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA), Assam, in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation, invites applications for the Lawyer Fellowship Programme. This is a one-year, field-embedded fellowship designed for early-career advocates practicing in Assam to enhance their legal expertise in areas such as legal aid, public interest litigation, and rights-based advocacy. Eligibility Criteria Enrollment: Must be enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council. Experience: 2 to 5 years of continuous practice in Assam as of the application deadline. Professional Background: Proven engagement in trial/lower-court litigation, legal aid, or community work. Commitment: Willingness to commit to a one-year tenure, including in-person intensive blocks at NLUJA, Assam, and district/block placement. Selection Process Dossier Review: Evaluation of case history, writing sample, and Statement of Purpose. Shortlisting: Based on prior commitment to legal aid and rights-based advocacy. Interviews: Two-stage process (Online and In-person) before a panel of experts. How to Apply Interested candidates must prepare a dossier containing: Statement of Purpose (500–800 words), self-authored writing sample (anonymized), case history of handled matters (anonymized), CV, Bar enrollment certificate, law degree, government ID, and relevant category certificates.
